The Man of Character: Part 1

Below are 10 attributes that describe The Man of Good Character. This certainly isn’t an exhaustive list, but it’s a great start. This is part 1 of a series on The Man of Character, look out for part 2 in the coming weeks! The Man of Character has:

1. Purpose: It’s what drives him. He doesn’t wander about aimlessly without a clear direction. There’s purpose in everything that he does. At the same time he remains flexible and doesn’t let his drive for purpose outweigh the need for rest and balance in his life.

2. Balance: He recognizes the need for Balance in all things and realizes that being too heavy on one side can actually be counter productive.

3. Passion: He radiates with Passion, It’s what drives him and steers his direction. His values and principals are what feed the passion in his life.

4. Relationships: He understands the importance of Relationships and takes every opportunity to strengthen them. He understands that relationships are one of the most important things he posses. He realizes that people are always more important than the task and strives to put the person over the task in any given moment.

5. Intuitive: He is Intuitive and looks ahead for the next move. Because of this he reduces the amount of surprises that take him and he’s usually ready for what’s coming next.

6. Focused: He remains Focused. His principals and sense of duty to a higher calling lead him in his mission and he remains focused on what he’s been called to do. Because he’s disciplined he can initiate tunnel vision at will and focus with precision on his given task.

7. Disciplined: He is Disciplined not only in mind and body but spirit as well. His strong will and determination is fit and ready for whatever task is next. He’s willing and able to sacrifice time, sleep and pleasure for the greater good of humanity.

8. Fit: He understands the importance of keeping his body physically Fit and healthy. He practices non-violence at every turn, but is aware that any moment could test his physical abilities.

9. Mindful: He is ever Mindful and knows when to live in the moment and when to consider the future. He normally keeps his distance from reflecting on the past, but when he does, he does so with the purpose of learning a lesson from it. He understands that worrying is useless and gets him nowhere. But when he’s with you he’s with you, when he’s there he’s all there. His mind doesn’t wander to what’s happening tomorrow or what happened last week. He derives great satisfaction and contentment by living in the moment.

10. Selfless: Lastly, he’s Selfless. He knows that selfishness is destructive and that it takes more than it gives. He fights his natural tendency to be self-serving and he gives of himself in sacrifice for the good of the other person or cause.
